K.M. Grant
K. M. GRANT is married and lives in the city of Glasgow, Scotland with her husband and children. When her third child was a baby, she went to university and studied history, especially medieval history. It was full of wonderful stories about people both wicked and heroic, and horses played such an enormous part in their lives, that it was almost impossible not to write about them. Although she was working as a journalist in 2002, she couldn't resist one day just trying out the first line of a book, then a second, and then, before she knew it, she was away. The results are the de Granville novels which show you, as clearly as the horse she loved, Muffet, showed her, that ‘the air of heaven is that which blows between a horse’s ears".
Her own family history inspired her to write How the Hangman Lost His Heart. Her ancestor, Colonel Francis Towneley, or Uncle Frank, was the last man in Britain to be hanged, drawn, and quartered. Once rescued, his head was passed down for generations of her family until it was finally reunited with his body just after World War II, when it was buried at St. Peter’s Church. It was Uncle Frank’s colorful legacy that showed her how exciting history could be. K. M. Grant is currently working on Book One of The Perfect Fire Trilogy. Blue Flame has a November 7, 2008 release date. K.M. Grant’s website is http://www.kmgrant.net, which features an authors blog and information about her books.
